A Reason for the Hope – A Promise & A Party

  • by

1 Peter 3:15 asks each of us who are believers in Jesus Christ to be able to give others a reason for the hope that we have in Christ.  I ran across this post on Facebook and the accompanying video and it blessed me so I wanted to share it with you:

Video of Arianna’s Sweet 16 Birthday Party

Her name is Marixa Wilson-Ervin and she made a decision to put her faith in God for her daughter Arianna. These are her own words:

I can’t put into words how I feel at this very moment. As you view the video, please know that you are looking at God’s promise unbroken. Back in June 2001, I vowed to God that I would practice supernatural faith if HE allowed my daughter to live, the very same day that I began making funeral arrangements. Only an ALMIGHTY GOD could take me from making funeral arrangements to planning a Sweet 16 celebration! I’m so humbled to share this memory with so many of you, and many more.

There’s a gospel song by The Clark Sisters called “I Tried Him and I Know Him” that speaks to our reason for placing our faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ – for this life’s challenges and in the eternity to come.  It’s simply because we have tried Him, we know Him and His character and ways, and we have found Him to be a true friend to us.

Psalm 103 was written by a fellow believer, David, King of Israel, who had a lot of experience with God and he said it like this:

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
