I Just Quit my job!

  • by

After 20+ years working in corporate America, I may have just quit my job. I won’t know for sure until late April.  In my mind I’m already gone on to bigger and far better things.

So how did I get here?  Over the last few years I’ve had a growing desire to do something different career-wise and have a new found interest in all things international.  I also have an interest in doing something that would allow me to use my my skills while working for a great cause like the UN or a mission organization.  I spent all 2018 day-dreaming about living the expat life or starting a travel-related business but the way my finances are currently setup there was no way I could just quit.

Then December 18th happened. My company announced a voluntary buyout program and I’m eligible for it. Last month I received my packet documenting the details and I esigned it and submitted it the same day.    Now I’m excitedly waiting for official notification that I’ve been approved and planning the next big thing.

I see the Lord at work in all of this.  My favorite scripture throughout this period has been Philippians 2:13:

“For it is not your strength, but it is God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose for His good pleasure”

Last year when I was day dreaming about doing something different, I prayed about it. I took this desire to the Lord. And I believe He has delivered for me big time.

So what about you?  Are you a midlifer looking, hoping, praying for something new?  I would love to hear your story!
