Tackle The Hun

  • by

Jesus life testifies to us that seeing the Will of God done in our life requires that we endure some hard things.

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” – 2 Timothy 2:3 KJV

I believe the Lord is saying to me that 2020 is my Year of tackling my HUNs. 2020 is my year to do the hard, the uncomfortable, the needful things so that His will can be done in my life. For me this means more fasting, more exercise, less sugar and bread, better time management, and saying no to Netflix & chill when there are things I need to get done.  These things are easy for many – but they are hard for me to do consistently…but not impossible.

Later on, I thought about the people of history known as the Huns. I guessed that there was something about those people that I could apply to my current situation so I did what every scholarly individual does – I Googled them!

The Huns were a nomadic people who lived between the 4th and 6th century AD. They routinely invaded neighboring communities and just took over. Their main weapon of choice was mounted archery or shooting arrows while riding horses. They were known for extreme cruelty and barbarism, taking what they wanted by force. Attila was their most well-known leader but after his death these violent people faded from importance. (source: Wikipedia)

In a sense, the things (habits & thoughts) that keep us stuck and seemingly unable to make real progress toward our goals are really just mental terrorists to us.  We want to change and move forward but there is a violent terrorist that has keeping us where we don’t want to be.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:12, “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.”

The things I need to do are going to take a violent, no holds barred, all-in focus to make them my reality.  If it could happen any other way I would have done them already. I would be at my goal weight, never letting nary a strawberry cupcake or crispy golden french fry pass my lips.  Instead I’ve been waiting for it to be easy, to be fun, to be comfortable. Those things, while good, are not the ingredients needed for change. I’m going to have to take my goals by force. Periodt!

So this year, I’m all in! I’m preparing myself to expect it to be hard & uncomfortable. But I’m committed to doing it anyway. Shoot! I got places to go and people to see in this here world and I don’t want to go looking & feeling like I do now. #facts

Here is one my peeps online who was posting similar thoughts just as the Lord was giving it to me. #Confirmation #WontHeDoIt
